Giovanna came in as the #3 ranked competitor in her Brown Belt Heavyweight division, and submitted her way to the Gold medal. In the Open Class Brown Belt division she had a near perfect submission rate, and secured the Gold medal in that division as well. Here is a match-by-match breakdown of both divisions:

The IBJJF World No-Gi Championship goes down from December 8th to 11th in Anaheim, California, and the brown belt divisions are loaded with talent this year. Both the male and female brown belt divisions are scheduled to take place on Friday, December 9th.

After three years of anticipation, the biggest submission wrestling event ever has arrived. The 2022 ADCC World Championships goes down in Las Vegas on Saturday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept 18, after a long season of preparation, qualification and grueling training.

Every two years, the ADCC World Championships returns as the pinnacle of no-gi grappling, showcasing the elite talents in the sport.  Those athletes have spent the previous years working to qualify for the prestigious event, or preparing to fend off hungry newcomers on a mission to stake their claim as the world’s best.

There, we often see a clash of generations and a massive disparity in age between the oldest and youngest fighters in each division. That trend is exaggerated this year, as several young athletes stand to break the record for youngest-ever ADCC champion, while several long-time veterans try to hold them off.

The ADCC 2022 World Championships are, to our rampant excitement, just one month away. All 97 athletes have been named to the six divisions and the singular historic superfight. But the brackets have not yet been revealed.
