Nguyen won via submission in overtime, Naples and Rosenthal landed regulation leg locks.
Alex Nguyen landed a submission in overtime to retain her Finishers Sub Only 115 lb title this weekend, catching Chelsea Mapa with a choke from the back after a regulation period which Nguyen dominated positionally. Nguyen was one of three champions to retain her title at Finishers' late October event, Halloween Havoc streamed live on FloGrappling.
Nguyen took the title via submission in August, and remains the Midwest Finishers 115 lb champ and 125 lb. One week prior, Nguyen won her first major IBJJF title, taking gold with two submissions at No-Gi Pans.
Frank Rosenthal also defended his Finishers title this weekend, defeating Anthony Molina Valdez with an outside heel hook less than five minutes into the 145 lb title bout.
Eric Naples put his diverse leg attack game on display to defend his 125 lb title via footlock submission three minutes into regulation against Chris Tran. Earlier in the match, Naples used a variety of leg attack entries to generate offense before settling on the belly down footlock.
Steve Joachim landed the fastest submission of the day, a 60-second heel hook over Trent Creech. With the submission, Joachim claimed the Finishers 205 lb interim title, putting him next in line to take on 205 lb champ Sergio Villas
Kemoy Andeson won the 185 lb interim title with a victory over Rasheed Perez. He's guaranteed a shot at the middleweight belt currently belonging to champ Sean Yadimarco.
