Ribamar earns unanimous decision versus Alves
Manuel Ribamar had his hands full with rookie black belt Johnatha Alves but was able to earn a decision thanks to a better understanding of the F2W ruleset and avoidance of the AOJ grappler's key attacks.
Alves was looking for the berimbolo throughout, which Ribamar was mostly able to shut down with grips and posture. Later in the match Aves came closer to getting the back but ran out of room more than once, giving Riba the opportunity to escape on the restart.
Ribamar scored early in the match by slamming Alves from closed guard, a legitimate scoring technique under Fight to Win rules that outranks any position control or sweeps.

Lovato Jr. taps Helton with an armbar
Atos black belt Helton Jose Junior was able to tie up and frustrate former F2W champion Rafael Lovato Jr. early in the match, smartly playing a lapel control from guard that shut down the feared pressure-passer's forward movement.
Helton Junior was able to sweep, but Lovato Jr's closed guard put him back on top, and from here he passed and locked up an armbar with only 23 seconds left on the clock.

Elisabeth Clay submits Luiza Monteiro with heel hook
Teenage brown belt Elisabeth Clay just took a major scalp, submitting veteran black belt Luiza Monteiro with a heel hook in just over two minutes of action.
The no-gi specialist played exclusively from bottom and was able to secure an outside heel hook for the tap. Her first attack saw them roll to the edge of the mat, she was able to quickly secure the position after the restart.

John Combs finds signature choke vs Wilson
If you ever want to show somebody how entertaining no-gi jiu-jitsu can be, show them this match. Non-stop scrappy action from start to finish, Combs and Wilson put on a show. Combs had the better gas tank though, which enabled him to catch the "combatine" choke he is so well known for although he almost ran out of time– he hit the submission with only nine seconds left on the clock.
