At just 20 years old, Andrew Tackett is already a Tezos WNO veteran. The young grappler is on the main card at WNO 19 and made his WNO debut in 2021. He was one of 16 jiu-jitsu athletes who competed on FloGrappling's Who's Next: Submission Fighter Challenge presented by Tezos reality TV show. 

Tackett last faced Rene Sousa at WNO: Who's Next Finale in July 2022. He won the match via rear naked choke submission.

This year, the young rising star will face Troy Russell on the main card on Aug. 10 in Austin, Texas at the Palmer Center. It'll be close to home as Tackett and his brother William Tackett both live in Austin, training at Brazilian Fight Factory. 

The co-main events feature Nicholas Meregali and Kaynan Duarte in a heavyweight bout as well as WNO champion Ffion Davies in a title bout with Jasmine Rocha. 

WNO: Meregali vs. Duarte features a stacked card along with one-half its co-main event, Nicholas Meregali facing Kaynan Duarte in a heavyweight bout.

Meregali made quick work of Pedro Marinho in the last WNO event in May, but now faces Duarte, the 2022 ADCC World Champion in the light heavyweight division. Duarte won gold in the super-heavyweight division at the 2023 IBJJF European Championships.

Andrew Tackett Jumped On The Scene During Who's Next

Tackett was the youngest competitor on FloGrappling's reality show "Who's Next: Submission Fighter Challenge." He won two matches on the show but lost to Kyle Chambers in the semifinal.

Andrew Tackett Found Success at IBJJF Worlds 2022

Tackett won brown belt gold at IBJJF No-Gi Worlds in 2022 and was promoted to Black Belt shortly after the event.

Andrew Tackett Is The Younger Brother Of William Tackett

For the second WNO event in a row, a Tackett will be on the card. William Tackett faced Francisco Lo in a Middleweight match on the WNO 18 card in May 2023. William Tackett lost to Lo in a decision. 

Also on that card was Troy Russell, who will face Andrew at WNO 19. Russell used an inside heel hook submission to beat Austin Oranday.  

William Tackett is an ADCC veteran who won the toughest-ever ADCC trials, the West Coast Trials 77kg bracket in 2022.

Where Is Andrew Tackett Ranked?

Andrew Tackett, along with his brother, were both ranked in the top 30 of the most recent men's welterweight rankings (170 pounds). 

The younger Tackett was No. 29 while the elder Tackett was No. 10.
