Johnny Tama and Oliver Taza will join the Who’s Number One card on March 26 in a prelim match to be streamed live for free on FloGrappling’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
The matchup will certainly have implications in the no-gi welterweight rankings, as Tama and Taza are ranked no. 6 and no. 7, respectively.
Tama is a 2019 No-Gi World champion, and is looking to bounce back after a rocky 2020. Tama is always entertaining to watch; he has an aggressive guard game and he never stops attacking. That paid off for him last year when he fought Taza’s Danaher Death Squad teammate, Ethan Crelinsten at Fight to Win 139.
“I am really looking forward to this match,” Tama said. “I love to compete, it’s my way of expressing my art. Also it’s a great opportunity to display all the work and improving I’ve been doing the past few months. I feel a more complete grappler than ever before. I am gonna bring the heat and put on an amazing performance for my people in Ecuador and supporters worldwide.”

But his specialization has paid off for him, as he has an exceptionally high 75% submission rate.
Tama and Taza are likely to have a firefight before the main card begins on March 26. The main card of Who’s Number One: Gordon Ryan vs Vagner Rocha will feature:
