Back late last year Aaron "Tex" Johnson confirmed his participation at the 2019 ADCC World Championships by winning the North American East Coast Trials with one of the fastest performances organizers have ever seen.
Exact records do not exist, but talking to ADCC insiders they believe that Johnson won his gold medal with the shortest combined match time: a total of four matches and four submissions in under four minutes.
Considering that ADCC Trials have been running for nearly 20 years, that's an incredible achievement. Johnson's aggressive game involves the use of combining lower and upper body attacks. Incredibly flexible for a guy his size (he competed at +220lb), he inverts under his opponents to go for the legs but is equally dangerous in attacking from triangles too.
Word is that Tex may drop to -99kg for the ADCC World Championship, which takes place on 28-29 September.
