Brown Belt Phenom Gabi Pessanha Beat Nathiely de Jesus Once Again
The 18-year-old brown belt took her second win over the two-time black belt world champion in Abu Dhabi.
Big news from the latest Abu Dhabi Grand Slam is that 18-year-old brown belt Gabrieli Pessanha took another win over the two-time black belt world champion Nathiely de Jesus.
Pessanha won gold at the 2019 ADGS Abu Dhabi, winning the female brown-black 90kg division.
This is the second time Pessanha has beat Nathiely this season, having most recently defeated her at the ADGS Los Angeles in September of 2018.
Pessanha was promoted to brown belt in June of 2018 after winning the IBJJF World Championships. Since then, she has competed in every Abu Dhabi Grand Slam event of the 2018-2019 season – Tokyo, Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro and now Abu Dhabi – never taking less than gold.
Next stop for Pessanha is the ADGS London in March, the last ADGS of the season before the Abu Dhabi World Pro returns in April.
Should Pessanha win those, she will become the first woman to have won gold at every major UAEJJF event in a season.
Pessanha remains undefeated as a brown belt.
