One of the most exclusive invitational tournaments in the world is back, and the lineup will blow you away.
The Abu Dhabi King of Mats will feature a "middleweight" Grand Prix, open for athletes from 69 to 85kg.
Entry is strictly invitation-only and restricted to athletes who are Abu Dhabi World Pro champions and Abu Dhabi Grand Slam champions, with special invitations extended to runners-up and medalists depending on availability.
With 10 names split into two groups, it'll be a frantic race to the top spot... and the huge cash prize for the winner.
Here's who will compete to be crowned the middleweight "King of Mats:"
- Gabriel Arges
- Isaque Bahiense
- Alan "Finfou" Nascimento
- Diego Ramalho
- DJ Jackson
- Roberto Satoshi
- Espen Mathiesen
- Gilbert "Durinho" Burns
- Manuel RIbamar
- Rudson Teles
Just like we've seen before, they will be put into two groups and fight in a round-robin format, with points awarded for wins via submission, points or a draw. The matches will be six minutes long and scored with regular UAEJJF points and rules.
We're going to live stream the Abu Dhabi middleweight King of Mats on FloGrappling on Jan. 12. Stay tuned for more details, on-the-ground coverage and more coming soon.
