Fight 2 Win 93 concluded Friday night in Scottsdale, AZ with three incredible matches, including two title fights and one outstanding performance from a rising black belt star.

Queixinho: The Omoplata King

Osvaldo 'Queixinho' Moizinho is simply a master at capturing the omoplata. It's been the pitfall of many of his opponents, and tonight at Fight 2 Win 93– with the F2W 145lb Masters Black Belt title on the line– the story was no different than any other. 

The opening minutes of the round saw Queixinho get into closed guard, which he used to set up the Williams guard before ultimately ending up in a scramble. Using the flurry of movement to his advantage, Queixinho sunk in the omoplata around the 5:30 mark in a fashion that only he himself could pull off.  

The pair front-rolled across the mat for what seemed like 30 seconds as Rodriguez attempt to escape the submission lock, but it was too late and the submission attempt was too deep –Queixinho finished his signature move and won the 145lb Fight 2 Win Masters Black Belt title.

Roberto Jimenez Stuns Local Crowd With Submission Win Over Hometown Favorite

It's no secret that Arizona jiu-jitsu fans love themselves some Jake Watson. And we absolutely do too – the Maracaba representative is one of the most aggressive and exciting brown belts on the planet today. But we knew a match between him and Roberto Jimenez– another limitlessly talented young athlete– would be no easy task for either.

Watson's agile guard was on display early, and his well-honed single leg-X (SLX) guard was initally giving Jimenez fits, completely off-balancing the Alliance athlete and nearly exposing his back. The pair entered into a loose 50/50 guard where they both fired off footlock attacks before Jimenez ended up in a standing passing position and Watson reset his SLX. This proved to be a fatal move for Watson as Roberto grabbed the foot on his hip by the toes and slammed on a brutal toehold attack, sending the pair spiraling down to the mat. 

After a moment of consideration, Watson decided to was best to tap, giving Roberto the win and the Middleweight gi title.

Notable Performance – Cole Franson's Epic Submission Win Over Gerson Atiogue

“That’s why I stay proficient in firearms," said one of the commentators at F2W after watching Cole Franson demolish Gerson Atiogue, and I couldn’t agree more.  Franson was all over Atiogue from the beginning of the match, hitting a slick spider guard-style sweep and working for a matrix- back take à la Espen Mathiesen, but instead settled for a quick leg-drag pass to secure side control. From there Franson then passed the guard, took the mount and hunted for a monoplata finish, which he expertly transitioned to an armbar attack.

To his credit, Atiogue is tough as nails, and he fought off two DEEP armbars before Franson was able to lock in the match-finishing triangle choke from closed guard.  An exceptional performance from the young black belt representing Tinguinha BJJ.
