Ana Carolina Vieira added another F2W belt to her collection tonight after besting Chelsah Lyons for the women’s lightweight no-gi title.
The duo met in the main event at Fight 2 Win 87 in Dallas, Texas, and thrilled the fans with a back and forth war that went right down to the wire. The judges certainly had no easy task in front of them when making their decision, both athletes were nearly equal in sub attempts (F2W's primary judging criteria), but ultimately it seemed that the combination of Viera's powerful passing and positional control, combined with her locked in arm triangle attempt was enough to satisfy all three judges and give her the decision victory.
Despite being a relatively new black belt taking on a World Champion, Chelsah Lyon's looked fantastic throughout all the match – she had an early guillotine attempt that would have subdued less experienced opponents and she was able to implement her guard game against the World Champion Vieira.
