Renato Canuto and Edwin Najmi to Clash at KASAI Pro 4
Renato Canuto and Edwin Najmi will meet in a superfight at KASAI Pro 4 on Saturday, November 10 at Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom.
KASAI Elite Grappling Championships announced today that lightweight grapplers Renato Canuto and Edwin Najmi will meet in a superfight at KASAI Pro 4 on Saturday, November 10 in Manhattan, New York.
“We are very excited for Renato, our two-belt champion, to return to the KASAI stage,” said KASAI President Rolles Gracie. “He will face his biggest challenge yet in Edwin Najmi. Both of these superstars will bring an explosive athletic style to the KASAI stage. The only outcome we can predict is non-stop highlight reel action."
The match will be held under KASAI Pro rules; 10-minute match with points (no advantages) with five minutes overtime in the case of a draw, all submissions are legal.
Edwin Najmi is a black belt under Romulo Barral representing Gracie Barra. Known for having a fast-paced submission-oriented style of jiu-jitsu, Najmi's matches produce a lot of crowd-pleasing action as he is known for flying submissions and opportunistic attacks.
"I’m very excited to be making my debut at KASAI Pro in New York against Renato Canuto," said Najmi. "We’re probably the two most dangerous guys in the lightweight division, always looking for the submission. It’s going to be a good one. I’m looking forward to the scrap on November 10th."
Canuto currently holds two KASAI belts. He is the KASAI World Lightweight Champion and the KASAI World Welterweight Champion, having won 155lb and 170lb tournaments to earn his titles.
In addition to Canuto vs Najmi, KASAI Pro 4 will feature an eight-man no-gi tournament to crown KASAI’s Inagural World Featherweight Champion. Those confirmed for the tournament so far are Paulo Miyao and Gianni Grippo.
Tickets for ‘KASAI Pro 4’ go on sale on September 25th via Ticketmaster. The event can be streamed live exclusively on FloGrappling.
