It was an exciting night in Seattle as Eliot Marshall faced off against James Puopolo at Fight 2 Win 86.
The current Masters No-Gi Super Heavyweight Champion, Marshall, immediately sat to guard to open the fight, looking to attack from the bottom. The Ribeiro representative, Puopolo, wasted no time enforcing his game from the top with heavy pressure and repeated pass attempts.
Although Puopolo was able to get around the guard of Marshall at the 3:30 mark, the Easton black belt retained his composure and was eventually able to get underneath Puopolo to attack a leg.
Puopolo fended off the attack well, however, and just as he was trying to pass the guard again time expired and the match went to decision.
Eliot Marshall received the split decision, thus retaining the Masters No-Gi Super Heavyweight title.
