Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro Returns for Jiu-Jitsu Superfight in Japan
Jiu-jitsu and MMA veteran Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro will compete in a special attraction superfight at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam in Tokyo.
Jiu-jitsu and MMA veteran Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro will compete in a special attraction superfight at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam in Tokyo.
Shaolin, 39, is a three-time black belt world champion (1999, 2000, 2001) and a 25-fight veteran of MMA. Fighting from 2001 to 2010, he amassed a record of 20-5-0 with 12 submissions.
Returning to compete in the gi, Ribeiro will face off against Daisuke “Amazon” Sugie, 37. A jiu-jitsu black belt representing Carpe Diem team, Sugie is also a veteran MMA fighter with 18 bouts between 2001 and 2011.
The two will face off at the UAEJJF Abu Dhabi Grand Slam event in Tokyo on July 29.
Shaolin has twice appeared at the UAEJJF Abu Dhabi World Pro as part of their “Legends” series. In 2017 Shaolin choked Kenny Florian unconscious with a clock choke, and in 2016 he submitted Daniel Moraes with a choke from the back.
