It’s a guaranteed show anytime Bill Cooper takes the stage, and the California native did not fail to entertain tonight at Fight To Win Pro 73 in Chicago, IL.
Cooper faced F2W Pro veteran and Windy City native Mark Vives in the frenetically paced main event. The match opened with Vives pulling guard and going straight to double lasso guard. Cooper was able to break the grips and initiate a throw-by pass that was beautifully countered by Vives, who was able to bring the match back to standing position.
Cooper opted to then pull guard and initiate his own attacks from bottom with the help of lapel tricks and sneaky grips. Unfazed, Vives survived all submission attempts, but was eventually forced to give up bottom position.
Cooper proceeded to turn up the heat on Vives with a flying armlock attempt, and though he didn't finish the submission, he was rewarded with top side control position. Vives initiated a strong bridge to escape, but ultimately exposed his arm and gave Cooper the opening he needed to finish the fight. Nimble as ever, Cooper immediately snatched up the armbar and completed the submission with one minute left on the clock.
