Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa got his nickname for a good reason. The Atos black belt, who returned to action at the 2017 IBJJF World No-Gi Championship last weekend, ran amok in the super heavyweight and absolute divisions for an incredible double-gold performance. 

With five submissions in six matches (an 83 percent finishing rate) Barbosa claimed his fourth no-gi world title in three years, having already won gold at medium heavy in 2015 and heavyweight in 2016. 

It’s been a busy year for Barbosa. We calculate he’s had 67 matches, with 57 wins and 11 losses. 

To win gold at No-Gi Worlds, Barbosa took out big names such as veteran Joao Assis, the dangerous Jackson Sousa, and ultra heavyweight Joao Gabriel Rocha.
