When you've achieved as much as Bruno Frazatto has, no one would blame you for taking it easy. This decorated black belt has won his fair share of major competitions, including Pans, Brazilian Nationals, and the European Open. But as his battle at Fight to Win 20 approaches on Saturday, December 17 in Atlanta, Georgia, this accomplished veteran is showing us that his appetite for victory is still strong.

For Frazatto, who trains out of Atos BJJ, the appeal of showcasing his skills under the famous Fight to Win lights doesn't have much to do with the glamor and fame that comes with competing at such an event. According to him, the real draw is being able to have such a major fight in front of his students in the city where he lives and trains. But he hasn't always been a Georgia resident -- Frazatto spent most of his life in the São Paulo area of Brazil, eventually moving to the States to be able to participate in more high-level competitions and be closer to what he describes as the "center of jiu-jitsu."



Frazatto is hardly an old man at 32, but as someone who's been training since he was sixteen, he's an experienced veteran in the sport. He's seen it develop in ways he'd never anticipated even when he received his black belt over a decade ago. "In the period when I started [training], thinking that jiu-jitsu would be where it is today would have been crazy," he says. "The sport has evolved in many aspects, and I'm happy to be a part of these big changes."

As he prepares to go up against rising Atlanta star Chad Bingham this weekend, Frazatto feels confident that the technical and psychological improvements he's made to his game over the years will help carry him to victory. He's unconcerned with what his opponent will bring to the stage, saying that, "I believe that victory is the consequence to having a well-defined game and not committing errors… I'm focusing on my abilities and not worrying so much about my opponent."



The confidence that Frazatto carries with him isn't baseless arrogance, but rather the result of years of discipline and commitment to his beloved sport.

I love the process leading up to the fight. For me, it's not a sacrifice, but a pleasure, because I love what I do.

He says that his goal in competition is to test all the techniques that he works on every single day at the gym. The success he's enjoyed throughout the years is proof that even if all that practice doesn't make perfect, it does make one seriously skilled fighter.

Regardless of who comes away victorious on Saturday, Frazatto doesn't plan on slowing down anytime soon. His next major goal will be to emerge victorious at ADCC 2017, and from there, it's only a matter of seeking out other prestigious competitions that will allow him to "fight in a way that will make people remember him."



For now, though, his focus remains on the impending fight with Bingham. Simply winning the main event of the evening won't be enough for him, though. "I'm fighting not just to win, but to put on a great show for all BJJ fans," he says. It's certainly not going to be an easy victory; Bingham may not have the notoriety that Frazatto does, but recent years have seen him making a big impact on the Atlanta-area jiu-jitsu scene. To say that it'll be interesting to watch this talented newcomer go up against a proven veteran such as Frazatto would be a massive understatement.
