DJ Jackson: The Perfect Jiu-Jitsu Competitor?
DJ Jackson: The Perfect Jiu-Jitsu Competitor?
DJ Jackson takes on John Combs at Fight to Win Pro 18 in Denver, Colorado, at 7 PM CST on Friday.
He's won under IBJJF rules. He's 3-0 in MMA. And, most recently, DJ Jackson was victorious in an event with a completely new rule set -- the Grappling Pro Championship.
Is this man the most adaptable competitor in submission grappling? We'll find out Friday in Denver, Colorado, when he takes on John Combs at Fight To Win Pro 18 LIVE on FloGrappling at 7 PM CST.
The rules at Fight To Win Pro are slightly different from an average submission-only event. F2W champions display aggressive, attacking jiu-jitsu: Throwing up two or three (real) submission attempts after losing positionally for most of the match could be enough to take the win in the judges' eyes.
Jackson's performance at Grappling Pro (and many events) could described as control-oriented, whereas John Combs is 100 percent an attacking animal. Jackson will need to go beyond shutting down the Colorado maniac's offense.
But Jackson has shown himself to be an extremely intelligent fighter who always uses the rules to his advantage. That's why we're expecting fireworks Friday when Jackson and Combs hunt for the cash prize.
