It's time again for the FloGrappling Awards presented by Kingz Kimonos. And this year, the athletes made it harder than ever to narrow down just six nominees for each of the five categories. Voting is open now for each of those categories:

• Male Grappler of the Year
• Female Grappler of the Year
• Breakthrough Grappler of the Year
• Submission of the Year
• Match of the Year

The 2023 Female Grappler Of The Year nominees feature athletes from gi and no-gi alike. Check out the credentials which made each of their years stand out among the rest, and cast your ballot below!

Ffion Davies

Ffion Davies had yet another year at the top of the heap, finishing the season as the no.1 ranked female no-gi grappler pound for pound. She defended her Tezos WNO flyweight strap against Jasmine Rocha. She defended her IBJJF lightweight world title, pushing herself ahead as a the only UK grappler with one world title, let alone two. And she returned to IBJJF No-Gi Worlds to pick up yet another gold. As far as well-rounded, two-style grapplers go, there are few in the same universe Ffion Davies. She is the reigning 2022 FloGrappling Female Grappler of the Year.

Gabrieli Pessanha

Even for Gabi Pessanha, who entered 2023 as a four-time world champ on streak of double golds at eight consecutive IBJJF majors, 2023 was a standout season.

The Queen of the Gi completed yet another grand slam, this time with an 85-percent submission rate in competition at the majors.

She won the BJJ Stars Female Absolute Grand Prix, collecting the largest cash prize in the history of female jiu-jitsu —$20,000 — and submitting long-time rival Yara Soares (for the first time) in  record time.

She collected her fifth title at the AJP World Pro.

And she rounded it all off by collecting another $15,000 at IBJJF's the Crown, downing another rival in Tayane Porfirio.

Pessanha finished the season as the no.1-ranked gi grappler, and it's a hard position to argue against.

Mayssa Bastos

Mayssa Bastos being nominated for Female Grappler of the year is as predictable as the awards themselves.

The multiple-time gi and no-gi world champion made a drastic change in 2023, officially moving to Art of Jiu-Jitsu after collecting another title at Euros.

She followed that up with titles at Pans, Brasileiros and Worlds, completing another Grand Slam.

In the fall she collected her fourth Abu Dhabi World Pro title.

And in December she capped her year off with yet another No-Gi Worlds gold.

Elisabeth Clay

Lis Clay has been nominated for female grappler of the year time and time again; and several landmark achievements put her on this list once again in 2023.

She won the Polaris GP at the beginning of the year, defeating both of the reigning ADCC world champs in her path.

She secured her first major title in the gi, submitting rival Thalyta Lima in the final.

The won the Tezos WNO featherweight title over Brianna Ste-Marie. And she submitted Luiza Monteiro to cap off a solid year.

Luiza Monteiro

This was a record year for the multiple time world champion. Monteiro put herself on track for a Grand Slam to start the season, collecting gold at Euros, Pans and Brasileiros. Although she faltered in her attempt at the world title, she came back in force at IBJJF's the Crown, making a statement to win the title.

Andressa Cintra

Andressa Cintra put herself in contention for a hall of fame nomination in 2023, winning her fourth world title. That was after a stellar performance at Brasileiros, where she went on a submission tear.

She ventured to No-Gi Worlds, where she captured a third world title, establishing herself clearly as one of the top two-style grapplers in the world.
