6 World Champs Competing This Week At IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Con
Running alongside Masters Worlds, Jiu-Jitsu Con has attracted some top talent in gi and no-gi alike. Here are the biggest names registered.
Kicking off on Aug. 31, Jiu-Jitsu Con is back in Las Vegas, NV, alongside the IBJJF Master World Championships. We are in for a show this year with several top athletes tossing their hats in the ring, including a stacked list of world champions looking to put on a show.
Diego "Pato" Oliveira
Pato is back in action this week, looking to take home gold in the gi & no-gi featherweight and lightweight divisions, respectively. An IBJJF gi and no-gi world champion, the Art of Jiu-Jitsu representative also won a bronze medal at the 2022 ADCC World Championships.
Mayssa Bastos
One of the top talents of her generation, Mayssa Bastos seeks to take home the title in the women's gi light featherweight division. The four-time World Champion touts an aggressive game, constantly hunting the backs of her opponents for submissions.
Lucas "Hulk" Barbosa
Known as "Hulk," the Atos Jiu-Jitsu product will compete at heavyweight in both gi and no-gi. An ADCC silver medalist and IBJJF Gi & No-Gi World Champion, Barbosa will be a strong contender for double gold this weekend.
Raquel Canuto
Representing CheckMat, three-time No-Gi World Champion Raquel Canuto will compete in both styles at middleweight. A two-time world medalist in the gi, Canuto is poised for success again at Jiu-Jitsu Con.
Gabrieli Pessanha
One of the most dominant forces in jiu-jitsu history, Pessanha will compete in the gi super heavy division at Jiu-Jitsu Con. Coming off two back-to-back IBJJF Grand Slams, Pessanha is always in contention for double gold.
Leticia Cardozo
Training out of Alliance San Diego, Leticia Cardozo was the 2022 super heavyweight No-Gi World Champion. Off to a successful no-gi season thus far with a silver medal at the 2023 IBJJF No-Gi American Nationals and gold at several IBJJF Opens, Cardozo is set to keep the momentum rolling this weekend.
