Team New Wave's Garry Tonon will return to mixed martial arts competition this Saturday, when he takes on undefeated Russian Shamil Gasanov at ONE Fighting Championship. The event will also feature grappling superfight Tammi Musumeci vs Amanda "Tubby" Alequin, a rematch of their previous WNO match.

Garry's opponent is a Dagestani-national, with a childhood base in freestyle wrestling, who holds experience in submission grappling and an undefeated 13-0 MMA record. After debuting in ONE with a first round submission victory, Gasanov called out Garry for a fight and Garry accepted his challenge. "Cobra" has been vocal in his belief that he can grapple with Tonon without issue.

Garry returned to the win column in January, defeating Johnny Nunez by kimura in the first round. He is working his way back towards a title shot against current champion Kai Tang, who beat Thanh Le for the belt in August of 2022. Gasanov was named ONE's male prospect of 2022, and the winner of this fight factors heavily into the 155lb title picture.

Tubby Alequin and Tammi Musumeci will face off in a ten-minute grappling super fight on the undercard. Both are elite athletes who have faced off before, including on the WNO stage. Both women are IBJJF No-Gi World Champions at black belt, and known for very technical guard work. Tubby recently returned to WNO where she avenged a previous loss to Alex Enriquez by decision.
