The second episode of the final season of Daisy Fresh: An American Jiu-Jitsu Story continues to captivate with its unique blend of humor, heart, and hard work. Episode two offers an insightful look into the rewards of building a program from the ground up and the transformative impact of jiu-jitsu on the lives of its practitioners.

The episode opens with a hilarious scene showcasing the camaraderie and rapport between team members as the story of Pedigo Submission Fighting begins to come full circle. What started as a program with only local athletes has now attracted talent worldwide to train, including grappling cowboy Wayne Hayer and multiple-time world champ Mikey Musumeci.

Andrew Wiltse, the first Pedigo black belt who paved the way for the rest of PSF, winning a major title at every belt level, updates the progress of his journey. His success, along with the notoriety and growth of PSF, allowed Wiltse to improve several aspects of his and his teammates' lives. With the proceeds of his accomplishments, Wiltse gave back, contributing his earnings to re-wiring and refurbishing the gym.

Wayne Hayer, hailing from the south side of Chicago, left behind a life filled with fear and unhappiness to move to Mount Vernon. Since joining PSF, he has found comfort and a new chance at life, feeling better than ever physically and mentally. As Heath Pedigo put it, Hayer came to PSF: "half thug, half college boy," and wound-up chasing lifetime dreams of riding horses and training jiu-jitsu every day.

One of the most evident signs of PSF legitimizing itself as one of the top teams in the world was the addition of multiple-time World Champion Mikey Musumeci. A massive fan of the team after watching season one of Daisy Fresh on FloGrappling, Musumeci bonded with the team while competing on Who's Number One, leading to his eventual decision to join PSF. Training under Pedigo, Musumeci has found guidance and comfort from his new team that helped him overcome the anxiety of competing at the highest level. Two other world champions joined PSF alongside Mikey: his sister Tammi Musumeci and Dante Leon.

Episode two highlights the hilarious juxtaposition of Mikey Musumeci and Jacob "The Hillbilly Hammer" Couch--two grapplers with vastly different upbringings but an evident mutual respect and drive to improve on and off the mats. In his two years at PSF, Jacob Couch grew from a competitive purple belt to a top-15 ranked middleweight in the world, while Musumeci, who has spent his life on the mats, appreciates the company of a like-minded team and finds joy in sharing his technical knowledge. A heartwarming bond between Couch and Musumeci emerges as they battle adversity; the duo motivates each other to rise to the occasion against incredibly talented opponents on some of grappling's biggest stages—captivated by Couch bringing out a celebratory Mountain Dew after a monumental win on Who’s Number One.

Mikey Musumeci's journey culminates in becoming Pedigo Submission Fighting's first black belt world champion in the gi, crediting Heath Pedigo and the rest of the PSF crew for helping him overcome the mental obstacles he faced in his journey and helping him find joy in competing rather than sink into nervousness. Season three, episode two of Daisy Fresh: An American Jiu-Jitsu Story is a delightful, inspiring ride through the world of Pedigo Submission Fighting as the team continues to better the lives of its athletes and inspire a new generation of grapplers.
